Utah Trip

I think someday I want to live in Utah (look at those colors!)

Ise and I at the game (we had Great seats!)

Isaac and I got the opportunity to go to Utah for a short trip this weekend to see the BYU vs. TCU Football game. It was a short trip and we left Graham with my mom (I missed him like CRAZY....that was not any easy thing to do!) And becasue the game was...HORRIBLE...i'm still trying to decide if it was worth leaving him behind and traveling 21 hours to watch it. But i've decided it was. Although i missed Grahamer it was great to get away for a few days and be with my husband. We did some fun stuff at game days and got to see family!
College Game Day with ESPN was a blast and we stayed on Campus all day long and hung out and participated in fun games. We sat in the car a watched a movie for an hour and a half while it reained prior to the game. It was a quick trip but it was sure FUN!!!! :)

I've been Tagged by "The Award"

"THE AWARD"

Here's a little about me... I don't usually do these...but i haven't posted in a while and i have some time while Graham is napping:

1. I am very short...only 5'2, but my husband is short too about 5'5. I wish he was taller sometimes, but secretly i love that he is short like me. It has lots of advantages...like: I never have to adjust the seat, steering wheel, or rear view mirror after he's been driving. My neck doesn't get tired staring up at him while dancing. We can fit in the same size shoe. And we can fit places that all you other tall people can't.

2. I'm addicted to reading. I haven't read a good book in a while...but when i get a good book, i would let everything go un-done and just sit on the couch and read it all day long! My favorite thing to do for a good book is go spend an hour or two looking for a treasure at a used bookstore. Old books have such personality.

3. I'm an avid blog stalker! i love finding people i haven't seen in a long time, or some people i've never even met and read their stories (NIE NIE being my most FAVORITE!!). You would never know how much i blog stalk/read by how much i update. [If i updated every time i got on to look at other blogs you'd see a post a day from me...maybe even two!!!] :)

4. Until i was about 12 i could never sleep over at a friends house...not because my parents wouldn't let me. I would get so freaked out and scared about being away from my mom that i would literally have an anxiety/separation attack and make myself so sick to my stomach that i would throw up. I would always end up calling my mom at like 2-3 in the morning and have her come get me. But that didn't stop me from trying. I always thought i could be brave and promised my mom i wouldn't call her in the middle of the night, but low and behold i would get so scared once it was time to go to bed and i just couldn't handle it and i'd break down and call...Sorry mom! ;(

5. I've wanted to be a million different things throughout my growing up years...some of which include: Marine Biologist at Sea World, Message therapist, police officer, firefighter, counselor, teacher, personal trainer (yeah that ones funny), and professional horse shower/trainer. Currently and for the past 4 years i have wanted to do dental hygiene. Lately i've been dreaming about going to nursing school and becoming an RN and working in the labor and delivery ward. Fun fun!

6. So i apparently am a little OCD. I love things organized and in their place. Even if it's an organized mess...at least it's organized. You probably wouldn't be able to tell if you saw my house on a weekly basis, but i had to give into some thing once Graham was born (He and his stuff have taken over my house). I was so bad that i wouldn't be able to go to bed if things weren't in their place. I would re-clean something that Isaac had just cleaned because it wasn't done just right...hence he has told me i'm OCD.

7. I am a football fanatic! But NOT NFL...ONLY college!!! Especially BYU football!!! This LOVE was rekindled when i married into the Bawden family. But i have always loved football. I remember my junior year in high school i loved going with friends and watching the game, but i didn't know much about it. So one night we were at the semi-finals for highland and i finally grabbed one of by good guy friends Brian Fleming and told him to tell me everything. Explain the game to me...i love watching it, now i want to know what is going on! So ever since then i've been a football lover! I've since then been even more in depth educated on the sport by my wonderful husband Isaac. We have so much fun when the season rolls around! I'm not talking like i just LOVE watching it either...Just to give you an idea, last season i had the whole offensive and defensive line-up and their numbers memorized from the BYU 08' team! (I bleed blue...GO COUGS...p.s.-only 42 days till kickoff!!! :)

Thanks for listening to my ramblings about the life of Chels. I now tag:
1. Tammy (mom)
2. Meg (sister)
3. Camille
4. Katie (only if you have time :)
5. Emily
6. Courtnee
7. Ashlee

(if you want to do this just copy the above picture and post "THE AWARD"...then tell 7 things about yourself that you don't think people know about you...then tag 7 other people!!! :)

Febrile Seizure Awareness

Resting in the Hospital

What a lucky little boy to have such awesome parents!

Last Wednesday morning we tended my nephew Kaden until Jess (my sis-in-law) got off work. Kaden was his usual rowdy, energentic two-year old self all morning. After Kaden went home with his mommy he was still just being "Kaden", but Jess started to notice he was feeling warm. They watched him all afternoon as his fever went up and down, and gave him some medicine to help manage it. When they all headed to bed they gave Kaden an ice bath to help keep his core temp. down. The fever kept spiking and around 11:30 that night Kaden stopped breathing. Luckily Abe was still awake and realized that Kado wasn't breathing. Abe woke Jess up and told her. Kaden started going into a seizure for about 30 seconds (which i'm sure felt like an eternity to his parents). After Abe continually did CPR on him he still wasn't breathing so Abe gave him a priesthood blessing and right away he started to breath. He finally started to come to. As they were outside waiting for the ambulance the first personell on the seen was a motorcycle cop...When Kaden heard him pull up he lightly stated "vroom, vroom" (He is an avid moty lover, thanks to uncle Isaac and Jake) Abe said when he heard him do that he knew he was going to be okay. When the fire department got there they took his temp and it was 105.1!! They took him to the hospital and got an IV and meds in him. By three in the morning they were released from the hospital.
The reason i share this story is because this is the second time it has happened in my in-laws family. (it happened to their uncles little year and a half old, maggie). The doctors say it is becoming more common in children two and under.
So...WHAT WAS IT: He had a Febrile Seizure...this is when a child gets a tempurature that rises so rapidly and quickly and their little brain doesn't have enough insulation so their body doesn't know how to handle it and they are thrown into a seizure.
I wanted to make an awarness post about this because the doctor in the ER said this was becoming more and more common. It was a good thing that Abe and Jess were with Kaden when he stopped breathing because there have been many cases of this where the parents will give the child some tylenol for the fever and then put them to bed. Then the breathing stops and they have a seizure in the middle of the night and the parents wake up in the morining and their child is gone. SO, if you have a toddler with a high fever...WATCH THEM VERY CLOSELY!!!
I love my little Skipper and i dont know what we would have done if we would have lost him. Life is so precious and fragile. Our Father in Heaven has the ability to call any one of us home at any time. I am so thankful for the priesthood and that Abe was worthy to give skipper a blessing! We love you little man and are so glad that you are still here with us!!!

Our New Life...Graham Isaac Bawden

Here are pictures finally! I promise i'm not a bad mom because it took me so long to show off my handsome little man! We have just finally been adjusting to new life and recovery is near the end stages. We love our Little Graham baby and enjoy so so so much his sweet little spirit that brightens our home. I wont make it graphic at all, but some have been asking for the story so here goes (hang on it's a long ride!!!):
On Sunday morning, Jan. 4th I started having contractions at about 7 am...my water hadn't broken so i was too afraid to go to the hospital to just have them send me home, so i labored at home for about 7 hours before we finally headed to the hospital about 2:30pm. When I was being checked at the hospital it was determined that i would be admitted because i was about 90% effaced and 4 cm dialated (This was such a relief!). So i was admitted and sent to labor and delivery. After reaching my room my contractions started super hard in my back so I chose to get my epidural a little early (LOVE THEM!!!).
After my epidural started to kick in it was smooth sailing for a little while at least! They broke my water as soon as the epidural kicked in, which was a really interesting and kinda cool feeling. For it being my first deliverey I progressed rather quickly and 5 hours later I was at 10 cm and ready to push...this is where the story turns a little scary and tiring (at least it was for Graham and I). I started pushing at 10pm on Sunday night. I pushed and was progressing well...after about an hour of pushing the nurse got kinda quiet and didn't really say much, then before I knew it there were 3 more nurses in my room trying to turn me in different positions (which is kinda tricky since i couldn't actually feel the lower half of my body to move it ;). They then proceeded to tell us that he was face up, turned slightly and stuck under my pelvic bone. So he was basically stuck and not coming out. For those of you who know me I was terrified of having a C-section and that is what they were started to suggest when they couldn't get him to turn over. I told them there was no way i wanted a c-section unless Graham's or my life was in danger. I then pushed for another 2.5 hours before the Dr. arrived. After another 40 min. of pushing Graham Isaac Bawden entered the world and was placed in my arms. Even though the 4 hours of pushing was traumatic to both him and me his little heart rate stayed strong the whole time, never falling low! Recovery for me was quite a process (that's a whole other story so if you really want details, not the gross ones, just ask).
When they layed him up on my chest he was crying (we were all crying!) but then he just stopped and looked at me for like 10 min while the Dr. finished delivering the placenta and stiching me up. It was the most traumatic yet, incredible experience that i have ever experienced. It was also extremely spiritual, and although I would like to forget some details of the labor (extreme exhaustion and pain) I will never forget bringin the sweetest little piece of heaven to our family!
Graham Isaac Bawden was born on Monday, Jan. 5th, 2009 at 2:14am, wieghing a healthy 7lbs. 9ozs. He had a severe hematoma (sp?) on the top of his head (looking like a huge cone-head) from being stuck because I was so swollen. However it went away after 24 hours and he has a perfectly round little head. He is a beautiful baby and a great baby too!!! He sleeps for about 4 hours at a time and eats like a champ! I feel that Heavenly Father blessed me with a great baby since the delivery was so hard. It is like nothing I ever imagined, and the sweetest experience. He truly is a little piece of heaven. Thank you all for yours prayers and support. More pictures coming soon!!!
